Letter from Pastor Jonathan

As the governor has encouraged suspending large gatherings, we are going to have exclusively online worship services for the next few weeks. Click on to our website, www.corryfirst.church, or follow the link on the Corry First app for the video. We will be streaming the traditional worship service at 10:00 Sunday and the modern worship service at 11:11.

We will not be having Sunday school, there will not be Friday Night Flood (our student ministry), and the Lenten lunches are cancelled.

Some smaller gatherings are canceled as well, like Men’s Monday Night discipleship group. Contact the leader of your group for specifics of your meeting, or keep an eye out on our Facebook page for updates, or contact the office.

We aren’t doing this out of fear. We know that God has got this, and we can have his peace in the midst of uncertainty. But we are doing this out of love for our neighbor. We talk a lot about loving God, loving one another, and loving the broken world. This is a time where loving our neighbor means doing what we can to join in the effort to slow the spread of this virus. Our whole society is adapting to this fight, and we want to show love for those who are most vulnerable. Slowing the spread will prevent our healthcare system from being overwhelmed, which will allow the vulnerable to get treated when they get sick.

During this time, practice social distancing, but don’t fall into spiritual distancing. Get together with friends and family to watch the service online at 10:00 or 11:11 this Sunday. Throughout the week, spend time in God’s word with the SOAP plan for Bible reading. Check in on our Facebook page, where we’ll be posting some encouraging messages. Most of all, talk with and listen to God. He has not given us a spirit of fear.

I’ll see you online tomorrow!

In His Love,
Pastor Jonathan
